Ways To Improve The Service Life Of Ball Screw

Ball screws are commonly used transmission components in tool machinery and precision machinery. Its main function is to convert rotary motion into linear motion, or convert torque into axial force, with the characteristics of high precision, reversibility and high efficiency. The method to improve the service life of the ball screw is as follows:

1. The ball screw of the machine tool should be kept clean and protected with anti-rust oil. Special care should be taken not to allow sharp objects or tools to hit the surface of the teeth, and do not allow any iron filings to enter the nut. The outer diameter of the shaft end of the assembled ball screw should not be bumped or scratched.

2 Compared with linear guides, when selecting ball screws with suitable accuracy grades for ball screws, you can refer to the TBI ball screw selection table and install them according to the assembly standard program. In other words, make precision grinding on CNC tools and machinery. Grade ball screws must be accurate to the calibration and choose the right combination of precision bearings.

The conversion grade ball screw is suitable for low-precision occasions, such as packaging machinery, etc., a lower-precision support bearing combination can be selected. It is especially important to avoid the eccentricity of the bearing support seat and the nut, resulting in uneven load. Uneven loads include radial forces and torques, which can lead to failures and shortened life.

3 In order to achieve a higher service life for the ball screw, it is recommended that you use bearing oil containing lubricant. The grease should be kept filled in the steel balls and ball grooves so as to directly add oil to the nut.

4. Pay special attention, when installing on the ball screw, please do not knock the nut or the elbow, and do not let the nut separate from the screw or the stroke-part of the stroke of the nut leaves the screw. If so, the steel ball will be separated from the ball. groove.

5. Choose a suitable shaft end support bearing combination. On CNC machine tools, oblique angle bearings (oblique angle: 60 degree ) are recommended.

6. Both ends of the screw should be installed with anti-collision devices or a toothless design to avoid damage to the screw caused by the screw cap process.

The ball screw is recommended to be protected by a telescopic protective cover to avoid being polluted by dust or iron filings in the environment. If debris or foreign matter enters the nut, the life of the screw is only one tenth. The telescopic type needs to be fixed with threaded holes on the flange.
